Name: Halal Vulgaris
Age: 26
Hair: His hair is tomato red, and generally straightened. In the front, it separates into a pair of raised and parted bangs which come to end a little ways past his chest, whilst the rest is short. Sometimes he adorns the front sections with leaves, but usually he leaves them be.
Eye: A reddish purple, similar to the color of a pickled beet.
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 160 lbs.
Species: Nymph (harvest)
Race(ethnicity): British/English
Abilities: Halal is gifted with all of the powers of an elemental naturally, being able to summon various, edible plants and use them for his own advantage in a fight. He also has the ability to levitate several feet off of the ground, which helps him mostly to either get out of situations he does not wish to be in, and to get around much more easily than walking or running. He also has the power to help further along the growth of a crop when it can no longer be bothered to grow on its own, infusing so much as twenty fields with his powers. Unfortunately, when he is in a place where the land is not fertile enough, his powers over crops and edible plants are rendered useless. Halal also possesses the ability to camouflage himself with his surroundings.
Likes: Because he is in charge of looking over the fields of the villages in the United Kingdom, as well as other parts of Europe, all must go according to plan. When the day is out, and multiple feats have been accomplished, Halal finds himself to be in a rather good mood. While he will (and must) eat only raw, uncooked produce, his favorite of all time has to be grapefruit. He loves it so much, in fact, that he has made it the center of his beaded, fruit and vegetable themed necklace.
Dislikes: As expected, when Halal cannot get things done that have to do with his job, it puts him in a rather sour mood. He also cannot stand people who purposely pollute the environment, or people who pollute it in general, seeing as that's the air he, too, needs to breathe. Spoiled individuals get on his nerves, seeing that neither he nor his mother were very privileged growing up. He will not stand for the mistreatment of women or unjust discrimination against human beings,
Personality: He is normally even tempered and finds it easy to talk to people, even though he's only met them. When it comes to his job of watching over and protecting the fields, as well as making sure the villages get their own jobs done of harvesting the crop, he has his moments of becoming bossy and demanding, wanting everything to get done right so that he might have his share of what's leftover, as well. On a bad day, or when betrayed, Halal has been known to become snippy and vindictive, going as far as to plague the person who has done him wrong or done wrong by someone he cares about. He holds resentment for his father, and so he has learned to become a leader, fending for himself whenever Beta could not provide for him. When something in his life goes terribly wrong, he is not afraid to go into episodes of depression, looking for sympathetic ears to listen to his problems. He can be rather witty at times, almost always taking the opportunity to add in a pun wherever he sees fit, and looking strangely at the people who do not quite get the joke.
History: Halal's birth was the result of a rather difficult period of time through which his mother endured. Then called Claire Bellevue, she was a nature enthusiast who often enjoyed taking treks through the forests both native to her hometown of South Cambridgshire, and those that were neighboring. One morning she decided she would go explore one in particular that hadn't been researched previously. Rumors spread about there being abnormal things lurking within the shadows of such an ominous forest, but Claire remained unafraid as she began her hike. Ten miles into her trek, stopping to record a rather curious bird she saw in a tree, she was ambushed by what she thought was an animal, but instead turned out to be satyr. Said satyr dragged Claire into a remote part of the forest, transformed her into a nymph, and then proceeded to force her into intercourse. Needless to say, Halal was born shortly afterward. Things were tough for the single mother and her newborn son, as the human community Claire had once belonged to no longer accepted her for what she had now become, nor her helpless little offspring, thus driving them both into the woods where all of the madness began. For a while, things looked hopeless, the two having to get by on the kindness of countryfolk where they could find it. Then, Claire found a gild of nymphs, many in her situation, who helped her to cope with the struggle of her predicament; whilst there was no way for her to return to being human unless her assailant willed it, she could, however, learn to live life the way she now was. Together, she and the others not only raised little Halal, but discovered what her purpose was as a nymph, her element being that of the harvest. Because of her element, she had to serve the Earth in accordance to it, meaning that it was her job to see over the fields, gardens, and villages who owned them until her son was old enough to either take her place or help to aid her in her lifelong duty. It was here that Halal's teachings began, most of his time taken up by his observation of edible plants, herbs and spices, learning to tell when they were ready, when to alert the others that they were ready, etc. He was also taught how to gain control of his powers, although this was held secondary in place of his primary lessons, only having learned the way of his gifts at the age of twelve. During this time of blossoming adolescence, Halal soon grew bored of his meticulous teachings from the nymphs, and longed to socialize with the humans in the neighboring villages. He was immediately rejected for his odd looks and shunned back into the forest, the same fashion in which his mother was. Though he'd tried many more times to make the others see that he was worthy of their friendship, the humans would have none of him. A now lonely, seventeen-year-old nymph returned to the only people he could call family, and retreated into his lessons to escape the sting of rejection from his peers. Things were like this for a very long time, until he met a pair of blind siblings who quite liked him, from the human village, the same village in which Claire (now having changed her name to Beta Vulgaris at this point) was born and raised in. The three became inseparable, and still remain in contact to this day. Now with hope in his heart, and a newly healed mother, Halal was able to continue his lessons long into adulthood, taking his rightfully earned position as his mother's assistant at the age of twenty-one. To this day, both mother and son continue to govern the villages, sometimes traveling to other parts of Europe to oversee things when other nymphs are too ill.
